Before adoption

Each little cat that enters our lifes, give us its love , and take with them ours. Happy are the ones who carries the gratitude look of happy animal, sometimes taken off the streets, because this love is infinite and reward us, teaching us to be someone better.

The nest text tells a fiction history, but that unhappily occurs everyday. Tells about an animal being abandoned by his owner. It is good for reflections.
Preyer of an abandoned animal

Lá chegando, ele me deu as costas, entrou no carro, e nem me disse
adeus.

nunca viesse ao quintal me ver.

trabalho...

Creio que, ainda hoje vou me encontrar contigo, aí no céu meu

Responsible Care

When we think to have a pet in our home, we must realize that they are not a toy or a decoration. They live for several years and give us expenses.

For many times we are taken by the pet beautifulness, and we end to be captivated by them, but before we take any decisions, we must think on the following...

Their characteristics and behavior match with yours?
For the families with children, we recommend animals of medium size, and a calm behavior. For the Old people, the adult animals are the best choice because they are less agitated. The bigger ones must live in a house with a good free area, protected with high fences. For apartments the smaller ones will be the better.
What are the animal´s necessities?

The long hair ones, need a more frequent combing.
At the apartments is necessary protection screens at the windows to avoid accidents. Cats are very curious animals and try to climb at the windows to watch the movements downstairs, and they may fall in a distraction moment. Unhappily we have a lot of this cases reported ,and the screens are the only prevention we have.
When we live at a house, we must guarantee that the animal don´t have access to the streets. Even if they are used to get out, they may be stolen, poisoned or suffer an accident.
Castration is very important on a responsible care, even for the males or the females. See the following.

Why castration
To sterilize your pet is a form of love and responsibility for them. With this you prevent the number of animals born without a certain destination.
When a she dog or a she cat have babies, and these are not welcome, their destination uses to be the streets ( abandoned and subject to illness ) . The ones that survive the first year of life, make other babies, again at the streets, without destination, and so on. As an important example, a she cat not sterilized can generate with their descendents, more or less 420.000 animals in 7 years.
The pedigree pets also must be sterilized, avoiding the risks of a crossing with other breeds, giving an undesirable mixed breed, that even if they are very beautiful, may not have someone interested on them.
Advantages of Castration
There are several advantages of castration: for the males, they´don´t want to escape everytime you have a fertile female in the neighborhood , they restrain from marking their territory with urine, that smells very bad, and it prevents them to have prostate and testicles problems.
In the case of the females they stop to try to run away looking for the males, they don´t attract no more males at your door (and they pee everywhere); you avoid also the constant “ meooow “ that bothers you and your neighbors and also prevent infections of the uterus.
Today I can have a pet, but….and tomorrow?
Having a pet is a compromise to take care of a life, and not only for 1 or 2 years, a dog or a cat can live for more than 10 years. How is it going to be the situation after 10 years? Do you think you will take care of your pet up to the end? And if you heve to move to another house / apartment ? Where will stay the animal? And if you move to another city or state? And your travels with the family? With whom are you gone to leave your pet? And on illness?
Think on all these questions before you decide> If you are buying the pet today to abandon it after some years, it is better to wait until you have good conditions to have a pet.
When can I castrate the animal?
Our recommendation is to do this before the adult age, from the 3rd. month of age. This will reduce in 90% the possibilities of diseases like mammary cancer, and others, and allows better recovering after the surgery.
What are the needs for castration?
The animal must first of all be in good health conditions and remain without water and food for 12 hours before the surgery. After the castration they must remain in protected places and with the care of a veterinarian orders.
